NOTES WILL NOT INSTALL ON LATEST WINDOWS INSIDER PREVIEW

Unable to Install Notes Client 9.0.1 on latest insider version of Windows 10.

I upgraded to Windows 10 Creators Update on windows 10 and experienced the problem with Unexpected_Kernel_Mode_Trap reported elsewhere on this forum.

I decided to see if it still occurred on the later Insider versions of Windows 10.  I installed the Notes client at FP8 level onto Insider build 16188 and still got the blue screens.  The following day Microsoft released a new insider build 16193 which was installed automatically.  After that it was not possible to start Notes - the message seemed to be about missing modules.

I did a complete refresh of Insider build 16193 which removes all installed software, ensured that all IBM/Notes references were no longer there and attempted a new installation on this 'clean' copy of windows.  It always fails to install.

At the point where the Wizard starts Windows services there is a delay of several seconds and then it starts to roll the installation back:

"The wizard was interupted before IBM Notes 9.0.1 Social Edition could be completey installed.  Your system has not been modified.  To complete installation at another time please run setup again."

The Windows Event log shows that:

  • IBM Notes Diagnostic Service nsd.exe was installed - but this resuted in a system error 7030 - that the service is marked as an unsupported interactive service
  • IBM Notes Smart Upgrade Service SUService.exe and Multi-user Cleanup Servce also installed with same error.
  • Subsequently timeouts waiting for these three services to respond before the wizard terminated.

DETAIL
The NoInteractiveServices value defaults to 1, which means that no service is allowed to run interactively, regardless of whether it has SERVICE_INTERACTIVE_PROCESS. When NoInteractiveServices is set to a 0, services with SERVICE_INTERACTIVE_PROCESS are allowed to run interactively.

Changing this to zero had no effect.
